Children’s Universal Behavior Services (CUBS) delivers exceptional therapeutic and habilitative treatments, including training and consulting services, grounded in the evidence-based practice of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Our team provides a wide range of specialized services for children and their families, as well as, training for professionals who are involved in the treatment and education of children with autism.
This is individualized ABA intervention, consisting of one child and their treatment team, which is guided by the child’s comprehensive behavioral assessment and treatment plan. Each team member is crucial in achieving long-term sustainable outcomes for the child.
Behavior Health Technicians (BHTs) and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)
Technicians (previously referred to as Therapeutic Staff Support, or TSS) conduct both 1:1 and group intervention. Each session is designed to target communication, cognitive, play, social, and self-help skills. Evidence-based techniques derived from Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) are utilized during all interventions. Goals consist of behaviors to decrease (e.g., aggression, tantrums, stereotypy, etc.), as well as behaviors to increase (e.g., coping skills, language, attending, etc.). Staff support is provided to children ages 0-12 across the center, community, home, and school settings. The number of weekly/monthly hours are determined by the needs of the child (e.g., age, level of functioning, length of treatment, etc.).
Behavior Consultants (BC-ABAs) and Behavior Analysts (BCBAs)
Consultants and analysts conduct assessments and develop Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs). They also provide training and support to both parents and staff. It is not only the responsibility of consultants and analysts to provide behavioral observations, review data, and update programming to ensure continued progress, but also to collaborate with outside providers (e.g., teachers, speech pathologists, occupational therapists, and doctors) to establish a comprehensive intervention package for each child.
This program is for children who are demonstrating readiness for a group experience. Groups take place either at CUBS or within the community. With fun and engaging activities and effective teaching strategies, students will develop greater behavioral and social awareness. Teaching primarily focuses on developing group learning/school readiness skills, such as listening and responding, group participation, observational learning and sustained attention. However, more complex/advanced skills (e.g., problem-solving, cooperative play, etc.) will be targeted according to the child’s age and ability.

At the outset of services, the CUBS team will conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) to determine the factors that contribute to disruptive or interfering behaviors. FBAs also serve as means to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions, identify necessary program modifications, and determine readiness for reduction in services or need for increased services. A lead clinician, such as a BCBA, will gather the necessary information to develop a comprehensive treatment plan by interviewing parents/caregivers, and making observations in a variety of settings (home, school, settings). Individualized Treatment Plans (ITPs) will include goals and interventions that aide in the reduction/elimination of problem behaviors, as well as goals and strategies to teach children alternative/replacement behaviors.
CUBS offers training workshops which allow parents and professionals to learn skills they can directly apply at home, in the general community, and/or the school settings. Workshops and trainings are customized to meet individual needs and are available upon request.

Trainings will be tailored to the needs of the school/staff. Topics may include an overview of Applied Behavior Analysis, behavior reduction strategies, teaching appropriate replacement behaviors, etc.
